Freeing yourself from trauma caused by an experience of physical, sexual or psychological abuse is a process that requires a lot of courage and perseverance. The more severe and persistent the abuse, the deeper the imprint is and difficult to integrate. It is probably not possible to completely erase the traces of such traumas. But it is surely possible to ensure that these injuries are no longer a significant obstacle to the vitality of an abused person. To free oneself from this experience of abuse, the person must reconnect with his or her emotional life. The support of the psychotherapist can be most useful during such a writing process at the same time as it can be complementary to the therapeutic approach.
