Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is a mental disorder characterized by loss of contact with reality, hallucinations, false beliefs that are held firmly, disorders of thought and behavior, diminished emotional expressions, decreased motivation, a decline in mental function, and abnormal functioning in everyday life, whether it is work, social relationships or personal care. Schizophrenia is a serious, chronic and very complex mental disorder. But, like other serious and persistent conditions, it can be treated. It is not a curable disease, strictly speaking, but it can be treated. A doctor, usually a psychiatrist, will make a diagnosis of Schizophrenia, based on the diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia according to DSM-V (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) which is widely accepted.
